The DSM-IV defines the condition by specific findings

which reflect abnormalities of

1. social interaction

2. language delay

3. repetitive behavior

Today the medical community comes together with parents and advocacy groups to support the children diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Delay or Autism-Spectrum Disorders. Controversy surrounding the etiology of Autism, specifically, and its related conditions will be highlighted tonight on “Larry King Live.” Of course, vaccines and their role in this debate will be addressed; but more importantly, what the medical community can do to improve screening for diagnosis, provide early intervention, and support the families affected by this condition.

I just watched a neat HBO special on Autism, Called Autism the Musical…(I think that is what it was called…) Anyway, I really liked it.
