Webcamming Medicine

Honestly, when I read this I thought, “Seriously???”
So I read this to get a better idea, but I’m still not convinced.
I can visualize the potential problems.
Although, it is a creative solution for some serious problems facing the Emergency Departments.
Oh I think this isn’t such a bad idea. It’s really doesn’t seem that much different from our recent visits to the doctor. I am always amazed/disappointed at how little time our doctors need to diagnose whatever is ailing us. I understand economics and the idea that the more business you do the more money you can get…and I’m all for it but because the face to face time is so minimal, I feel like every time I go to the doctor I could save myself a BUNDLE of money (especially now that I have a high deductible before ins. pays a cent) if I just entered the symptoms online, did the research and have the doctor write the scrip. That is what I have done the last THREE times I’v taken my kids to their doctor. So If I could save on the cost of the doctors’ visit, I’m all for it!
Now, I understand that not all cases are that easy to diagnose and treat But when I get the impression that my kid is just a number….I find that I am VERY resistant to taking them to the doctor.
Its a slippery slope Ay? We are all dispensable and could be replaced my robots. So without people and interaction what are we all doing here? It’s ok to let other peoples good choices and poor choices effect us and even change us. How would my life change if I allowed every person I come in contact with to be a part of my life, even for just that fleeting moment that we shared a hello or a smile. Humans were not created to be rocks or islands. We were not meant to stand alone. Why does our society praise and reward such independence?
I love the thoughts your little posts bring me.
