I may be a woman, but I’m a doctor
I attended a local leadership training with Julie Beck (given to all Manhattan Stake & Ward leadership personnel) a few months back. She mentioned some of her experiences with women in other countries. When I read the following statement from N. Kristoff’s recent NYT column, I had a reaffirmation of the significant role women play in their respective communities.
“We are trying an experiment,” she told me. “We women in Somalia are trying to be leaders in our community.”
I think it’s always a nice exercise to ask ourselves “what have I done for society?”
